I’ve made a decision to save my sanity. I’m drawing a line in the sand. No more baking from scratch with my kids. If it involves baking powder or more than two measurements, I will not be subjecting myself to the torture. From now on, we’ll enjoy baking out of a box.
I’m really not much of a baker anyway. I do enjoy the challenge of a fancy baking recipe, but all that science and precision make me anxious. Adding 4 tiny hands to a process that I’m already likely to screw up, is just not something any of us will enjoy. There will be yelling and one or more of us will end up in tears. Money will be wasted. There’s just no need.ย
Why set myself up for failure? Isn’t baking together supposed to be fun? So from now on, no more stress, just SIMPLE steps.ย If the back of the box says “stir to combine,” they are welcome to lend a hand. If the only potential casualty is one egg and a pouch of Duncan Hines, then by all means, it’s a family affair! They’re young, they don’t know what they’re missing. Hopefully as the years pass, they’ll learn to love cooking and I can give them more responsibility. In the meantime, I’ll savor every bite of our Betty Crocker peanut butter cookies!
I literally just bought two bags of peanut butter cookie mix!! ๐๐๐ป๐โฅ๏ธ Totally with you friend!
