Since most public displays of Fireworks are canceled this year due to pandemic restrictions, I know a lot of folks will be staying home and setting off their own sparkly displays. Here are just a few quick reminders courtesy of SafeKids.org. Note: Tip #1, while usually great advice, is tough this year, but it still seems smart to leave it up to a grownup who really knows what they’re doing!
The Hard Facts About Fireworks
- More than 3,000 children under the age of 15 are sent to the emergency room each year in the United States because of fireworks.
- Sparklers, which are commonly given to children during holidays and heat up to 1,200 degrees account for one-third of the injuries to children under five.
